Kudos to Candy Chang who empowers communities to make art together. I saw how her work has inspired people beyond New Orleans. In my own neighborhood people filled in the blanks on a wall covered with "Before I die I want to______" How would you fill in the blank?
I find the work of MIT professor of technology and society, Dr. Sherry Turkle, to be profoundly provocative. She challenges us to think about how we use our personal communications devices. She calls us to ponder seriously to what degree our constant use of these devices helps or hinders genuine heart-to-heart conversation. In this 2012 podcast from the TED Talks and in her most recent book, Alone Together (New York: Basic Books, 2011) , she asks, "As we expect more from technology, do we expect less from each other?"
